Google announced on October 19 a review workflow for slides and videos in Gemini Notebook. Users can adjust a plan before producing the final output, with global rollout scheduled over the following week.

The company says Review lets users inspect a slide outline or video production notes, request changes and select Proceed. The faster workflow without review remains available.

An editorial decision before rendering

MnzAI Labs' assessment is that this control matters because it brings forward decisions that often cause rework: which idea opens the piece, what should be removed and how the explanation should progress.

A presentation can look convincing while its argument remains poorly ordered. Reviewing a plan creates an opportunity to identify that problem before judging the finish.

For example, an executive briefing might need its main decision first, while an educational explanation might need a concept before an example. These are illustrative communication choices, not simply visual preferences.

How to evaluate the feature

Our proposed test is to compare two versions of the same task using identical sources: one generated directly and one reviewed beforehand. Check:

  • Whether the structure answers the central question without repetition.
  • Whether important claims are supported by the sources.
  • How many corrections the final output still needs.
  • Total time required to obtain usable material.

Approving a plan does not replace reviewing the finished video or slides. Final checks must still cover text, imagery, sequence and fidelity to references.

The useful measure is reduced rework. An additional step delivers value when it improves the result or avoids further generations.
